How to visualize your academic articles with your co-authors and favorite terms (and explore Donald Knuth)

20 Aug

Computer Science Bibliography (DBLP Server) now provides a nice visualization tool that helps you or anyone to explore scientific articles and the authors relationship to co-authors, terms, years, journals, etc. I have discovered this new visualization tool as I was checking my name on DBLP which produces the following visualization (here is the interactive version):

Visualize your computer science articles, co-authors, terms, journals, years

Visualize your computer science articles, co-authors, terms, journals, years

When you hover on a scientist’s name it immediately provides statistical information about the number of articles written by that author along with publication years, etc. Naturally I couldn’t resist to playing with the system and explore Knuth’s relationships in terms of person -> person, person -> word, and person -> stream.
